South Borough Primary School
This mosaic was commissioned by and made for South Borough Primary School in Maidstone, Kent.
It involved enabling the pupils who were aged between 6 and 10 years old, to draw onto pre-rolled out clay.
These were then bisque and glaze fired and incorporated into the mosaic made by Martin.
The children’s brief was to draw things that expressed mixed emotions. hence the addition of the erupting volcano! A previous project for the children had envolved them setting off teddy bears connected to hot air baloons, to see how far they flew. This had made a lsating impression on them and so this event was also incorporated into the sky.
