Martin Cheek’s annual summer mosaic workshop is both a creative and relaxing holiday experience. How often do you take time off just to make mosaics and relax?! Martin teaches 4 hours daily, and he will teach you anything he knows about mosaics based on his twenty years experience at your request. There will be at least two formal lectures incorporating direct and indirect mosaics as well as evening slide shows covering Martin’s personal mosaic work. There is a lot of opportunity for one to one tuition and Martin will then bring in the rest of the group if the points raised are beneficial to everyone. Another great feature about this course is meeting your fellow course participants from all over the world, a unique chance to make mosaic contacts and discuss mosaic matters.
Martin Cheek has run these popular summer workshops in Greece for 10 years. Time has come for a change and what would be better than a venue in wonderful Tuscany which would also make a day trip to ’Niki de Saint Phalles fantastic Tarot Garden possible. We are so looking forward to showing you this must-see mosaic attraction. It so different from all the classic mosaics or Northern Italy and it is just so incredibly exciting. This modern mosaic site is one huge photo opportunity so make sure you have lots of space on your camera’s memory card!
In Tuscany we have found this dream of an estate, Casabella, that offers everything you ever dreamed of Tuscany. Situated 16 km out of historic Florence, on the top of a beautiful rolling hill this old but well modernised estate with swimming pool has it all: dynamic hosts, its own chef who does his own fennel salami, its own production of olive oil and its own production of wine, even its own windmill producing its own flour to make its own bread and pizza dough! On your afternoons off you are of course welcome to keep working on your mosaics, but you can also go to one of the most exciting European cities of art, Florence, or you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There will also be special afternoons with guided tours showing the wine and olive oil production. Just up the road you will find the studio of an exquisite ceramicist who is well worth a visit. You can also go horse riding, hiking, cycling or just relax in the middle of all the Tuscany beauty by the pool all within the beautiful and luxurious grounds of Casabella.

Attractive price for the 2nd (and 3rd!) person in a double room to come along with the mosaic maker on holiday in Tuscany as there is lots to see and do for all members of the family. Non participating partners are welcome on all tours. The only thing they don’t do is the mosaic workshop.
Horse riding, ceramic classes and cooking classes are offered by Casabella
at £20-25 per person per session.

9.00-13.00: Workshop. 17.00: Tour of the property.
Day 3 - Monday May 26
9.00-13.00: Workshop. June 29 14.00: Art Tour to Florence. 20.00: Dinner in Florence. (In Sept this will be on Day 4 because the Uffizi is closed on Mondays)
Day 4 - Tuessday May 27

Day 5 - Wednesday May 28
Workshop 9.00-13.00 In the afternoon you can relax by the pool or continue (untutored) on your mosaics.
Day 6 - Thursday May 29
Full day trip to ’Niki de Saint Phalles Tarot Garden
Day 7 - Friday May 30
Workshop 9.00-13.00. In the afternoon there will be an optional afternoon trip to Florence.
Day 8 - Saturday May 31
Workshop 9.00-13.00. 17.00: Exhibition of the produced mosaics, drinks and nibbles.
20.00: Dinner at the restaurant by the mill.
Day 9 - Sunnday 1 June
In the morning we all leave for Florence Train Station.

We will then work out your price and pass you on to Faye at Casabella who will take your deposit and reserve the room of your choice. Please remember that the 1st participants to book get the largest rooms. Faye will issue you your invoice and she will also collect your balance 30 days before your course starts.
