Still Life: Tea Time

Tea Time
Smalti and Millefiori on Board
116cm x 90cm. £2500.00

This piece is inspired by Mrs Beeton’s Book of Household Management, the original 1919 version of which has splendid coloured engravings. many people have remarked on how millefiori looks like sweets, so naturally if you make a mosaic of cakes and sweets using millefiori, it is clearly going to work!

By the way I can hear you asking “Why is there only one example of Still Life on this site?!
Well the answer is simply this - although I love mosaics of Still Life - many are produced to great effect on my courses, it isn’t really my personal thing when it comes to making mosaics myself. I was a puppet animator and when it comes down to it, it’s character that I am interested in.
All that said, I’m sure that I’ll get around to making more still life mosaics one day soon - any suggestions?!
